Ahmetovic reacted to HNS Conclusions: Territorial Sovereignty of BiH cannot be negotiated

”The plans of the Croatian National Assembly (HNS) to prevent elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) or create a new entity are another attempt by ethnonationalism forces to destabilize the Western Balkans, ” said Adis Ahmetovic, Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), the special envoy of the Bundestag.

As Ahmetovic emphasized, it is more than irritating that the Croatian president says that he is ready to prevent elections in another country or to create a third entity.

”This is equivalent to an attempt at political dismantling of the country. We will not allow that, and we will not allow ourselves to be held hostage,” the Bundestag envoy for the Western Balkans expressed.

The territorial integrity and sovereignty of BiH cannot be negotiated, Ahmetovic categorically said, stating that he will support all those who are committed to a pluralistic, democratic region and do not follow the ethnonationalism path. For that purpose, he said, the High Representative of BiH, Christian Schmidt, also has full support.

Another priority highlighted by Ahmetovic is comprehensive electoral reform and holding elections in October.

”They will certainly take place. In that process, the legal and transparent conduct of elections must be monitored by the international community,” he concluded.
