The engines of the Air India plane that crashed recently were in working order, the airline’s chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran said.
“The plane had a clean engine history,” Chandrasekaran said.
He said the plane’s right engine was new and installed in March 2025, while the left engine was last serviced in 2023.
Chandrasekaran had previously said that after this plane crash, which killed at least 271 people, the company should work on improving safety, Reuters reports.
An Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner with 242 passengers on board, en route to London, began to lose altitude seconds after takeoff from Ahmedabad, India.
All but one passenger on the plane were declared dead, and about 30 people died on the ground.
