The best judoka from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the category up to 70 kilograms, Aleksandra Samardžić, made it to the second round of the Olympic tournament in Paris.

Samardžić, who is 34th in the world ranking in the category up to 70 kilograms, fought in the first round of her first Olympic Games against Laerka Olsen, the 36th judoka in the world in this weight category.

Our 26-year-old judoka celebrated with an ippon and placed among the top 16.

In the second round, Samardžić meets Sanne van Dijke from the Netherlands, the fifth-ranked judoka in the world up to 70 kilograms. That fight is expected around 11 o’clock.

In the event that she makes a sensation and makes it to the quarterfinals, her next opponent would most likely be Saki Niizoe, ranked 6th in the world.

However, in case of defeat in the quarter-finals, she would win a rematch and battle for bronze, which is what all Bosnians and Herzegovinans hope for, Klix.ba writes.
