In 2029, Norway will host the Alpine Skiing World Championships for the first time, and the competition will be held in Narvik, the International Ski Federation (FIS) decided today.

FIS delegates chose between three bidders at the congress in Reykjavík. Along with Narvik, a city with about 22,000 inhabitants, the candidates were Solde in Andorra and Val Gardena in Italy, Hina reported.

In the second round of voting, Val Gardena received more votes than Solde, so the Alpine World Championships will be held there in 2031.

Although it has a long history of organizing world championships in Nordic disciplines, Norway has been given the organization of the Alpine Skiing World Championships for the first time.

The World Championship in 2025 will be held in Zalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria, and in 2027 it will be hosted by the Swiss Kran Montana.
