Brčko District Mayor Siniša Milić, Deputy Mayor Anto Domić and Chief Government Coordinator Esed Kadrić met today with the Head of the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Brian Aggeler and Head of the OSCE Field Office in Brčko Megan McCullough.

The meeting, held in the City Hall in Brčko, was organized as part of the farewell visit of Ambassador Aggeler, whose term of office ends in July this year, and on that occasion the participants summarized the cooperation between the OSCE and the Brčko District authorities, evaluating it as extremely successful, reported the Government of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Mayor Milić said that OSCE support was crucial in the implementation of numerous projects, especially in the areas of democratization and strengthening of mutual dialogue.

“Brčko was often in the focus of the OSCE precisely because of its specific role and potential for promoting dialogue and cooperation. Today, thanks to such understanding, we can focus on concrete issues important to citizens,” said Milić.

Ambassador Aggeler emphasized that the OSCE Mission to Brcko operates in various sectors – from the fight against corruption and strengthening governance, to the protection of human rights and support for persons with disabilities.

“Brcko is a positive example of commitment to the real needs of citizens and avoiding divisions that, unfortunately, are still present in other parts of the country,” said Aggeler.

The Head of the OSCE Field Office in Brcko, Megan McCullough, emphasized that the Brcko District is a good example of political and interethnic cooperation, and that it can serve as a model for the rest of BiH.

The meeting was preceded by a reception for high school students from Brcko who won the competition within the framework of the “Citizen” project, implemented through classes in the subject of Democracy and Human Rights.
