Ambassador of BiH to the Holy See, Slavica Karačić, was honored with a medal of Pope Francis-Knights Grand Cross of the Order of Pius IX.
By receiving the medal, ambassador Karačić was named Dame Grand Cross of the Order of Pius IX.
At the ceremony held on Monday at the Apostolic Palace in Vatican, the Deputy Secretary of State of the Holy See, Archbishop Angelo Becciu, presented the award to ambassador Karačić.
The medal is consisted of a ribbon and a medal with the inscription: ‘Virtuti Et Merito’, and parchments in Latin confirming this medal.
Knights Grand Cross of the Order of Pius IX is being awarded to distinguished foreign officials and ambassadors to the Holy See.
The order was established in 1847 by Pope Pius IX during the celebration of the first anniversary of his election for Pope, it was announced from the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of B&H.
