Experts from the institutions responsible for labour issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina and representatives of trade unions and employers’ organizations discussed the Global Deal for Decent Work and Inclusive Growth at a working meeting that was organized yesterday by the Embassy of Sweden in Bosnia and Herzegovina in cooperation with the International Labour Organization and the Olof Palme International Center from Sweden.
H.E. Anders Hagelberg, Ambassador of Sweden to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Markus Pilgrim, Director of the International Labour Office for Central and Eastern Europe from Budapest, and Ms. Anna Sundström, Secretary General of the Olof Palme International Center from Sweden, presented the concept of the Global Deal and discussed with participants about the potentials of social dialogue in fostering decent work, quality jobs and increased productivity and, by extension, greater equality and inclusive growth.They said that cooperation between the labour market institutions was to create more and better jobs.
This first Flagship Report contributes to the “Global Deal for Decent Work and Inclusive Growth”, an initiative launched in 2016 by Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven as a concrete input to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The objective consists in developing and harnessing the potential of social dialogue and sound industrial relations as instruments for promoting decent work and job quality in line with Sustainable Development Goal 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth, and thereby fostering greater equality and more Inclusive Growth in line with Sustainable Development Goal 10 on Reduced Inequalities.
