The ambassador of B&H to India Sabit Subasic will host one of the greatest Bollywood film directors Imtiyaz Ali on August 20th in Sarajevo.
Subasic spoke of his plans for the representation of B&H as a tourist destination in India, about the arrival of great investors from Nepal and Sri Lanka to B&H, as well as about his experience of the incredible India.
Subasic emphasized that Imtiyaz is arriving to B&H as a guest of the Sarajevo Film Festival, and that he is bringing the most famous and the best Pakistani actress Iman Ali with him.
Subasic’s aim is, as he said, to make a tour across B&H with Imtiyaz and to encourage him to shoot one of his following films in B&H.
“When an Indian film is shot in some foreign country, the Indians are flocking to that area as tourists. Through the film, tourism and further projects and investments might be affected”, explained the ambassador Subasic.
Subasic pointed out that Imtiyaz will be staying in B&H for six days, several of which he will spend at the SFF, and after that he will make a tour of B&H. He also emphasized he has been working on this project for several months.
“I want to impact the affirmation of B&H as a tourist destination and the enhancement of our country’s image, and I can certainly do it through his visit”, the ambassador Subasic explained.
Subasic said that Indians are watching films more than any other nation in the world, and that they are going to the cinema every Friday for the premiere of a new Bollywood film.
“Bollywood is not Hollywood, it is far from Hollywood. A Bollywood star is more than a human in India, and it is unbelievable how popular the actors are in that region”, Subasic said.
On August 20th, the ambassador Subasic will also host a group of distinguished businessmen from Nepal and Sri Lanka, who are also the guests of the SFF.
The group from Nepal will be led by Shahil Agrawal and the Shanker S Group, which is the biggest group in Nepal and which deals with food industry, hotel industry and iron processing.
Subasic pointed out that Agrawal is his candidate for the honorary consul of B&H, since he is the only seriuos connection with Nepal – given that B&H does not have an embassy there.
Subasic reminded that several months ago the Council of Ministers of B&H reached a decision that B&H builds a school in Nepal, after the disastrous earthquake.
“I am in charge of the implementation of that project, and precisely Agrawal is helping me therein”, said Subasic.
The second group is coming from Sri Lanka and is led by the distinguished businessman Dishan Amrit Jitendr Akumar Warnakulasuriy, who deals with information technology, higher education and hotel industry, and who is also a candidate for the honorary consul of B&H.
Furthermore, the ambassador Subasic added that Asif Iqubal, the founder of the B&H – India Chamber which gathers a considerable number of businessmen, is also currently staying in B&H. He is coming from the city of Bangalor, located in the southern part of India.
“This is his second visit to B&H and he has great plans for investing in B&H, especially in cinematography. The plan is to connect these two film industries”, Subasic said.
According to the ambassador Subasic, India is an incredible and beautiful country, and it represents a special experience in life.
“It is clean and rich and poor and diverse. In that country, you can meet thousands of cuisines, languages, cultures, costumes, traditions and religions, and countless different fractions”, said the ambassador Subasic.
Subasic emphasized that B&H and India have good relations inherited from the former Yugoslavia, primarily because of the Non-Aligned Movement and good economic cooperation.
“I emphasize that we have good relations with India, which we have not concretized well through the economic cooperation and because of that we must work hard because it is possible to do great business with India”, Subasic pointed out.
Subasic considers that B&H must first fix its image and that Indians must know that B&H is a beautiful country that had liberated itself from the recent past and that walks up the path towards the membership in the EU.
“In order for them to understand that, they must come to B&H first, and that is why we need to create conditions for their arrival. My aim is to inspire them to come here as tourists, after which they will assess the investment conditions”, Usbasic said.
Currently, added the ambassador Subasic, B&H is not recognized in India as a tourist destination, but they have been going to the neighbouring Croatia lately.
The ambassador said that a small number of BH citizens live in India and that the accomodation and food are expensive for these circumstances. He added that people are mistaken if they think one can live in India cheaply.
“The truth is that there are many cheap food stands in the streets, but one must be very brave to eat something from the streets because of hygiene. The Indians are accustomed to such food, but people from this region might have problems”, Subasic said.
The ambassador Subasic emphasized that India is a populous country where the hygienic habits are far different.
“The Indian elite is living in a more luxurious style that any other elite in the world. Their luxury and wealth are unbelievable”, said Subasic.
On the other side, added the ambassador, a lot of poor people live in India due to the caste system which is rooted in the minds of the Indians. He added that they are slowly breaking loose from it, but it is going hard.
