Members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina welcomed a delegation of the Congress of the United States of America, headed by Congressman Devin Nunes.
Congressman Devin Nunes, the chairman of the Permanent Committee for Intelligence Affairs of the U.S. House of Representatives, expressed his sincere gratitude for the reception and welcome to the chairman Dragan Covic and member of the Presidency Bakir Izetbegovic.
Members of the Presidency thanked Congressman Nunes for the assistance and support, as well as the proactive role, of the U.S. in BiH.
The members of the Presidency informed their guest about the current situation in the country, with a special comment on the country’s European integrations. They emphasized that BiH is firmly committed to keeping a positive trend towards European integrations and keep up with the reform process and progress towards fulfilling the necessary conditions for candidacy for the EU.
It was emphasized that there is a single stance in BiH regarding the activation of Membership Action Plan (MAP) for NATO and that the necessary activities related to fulfilling the necessary technical details for its activation are being conducted.
Congress Nunes welcomed the realized progress and reforms which BiH fulfilled and expressed the full support of the U.S. in the path towards strengthening institutions, the rule of law and democracy. It was concluded that regional stability is a priority and that it’s necessary to conduct the necessary reforms in BiH and intensify cooperation with neighboring countries in order to increase security in the Western Balkans.
They agreed that it’s a joint interest of both countries to better bilateral and multilateral relations in all areas, especially in the areas of the war against terrorism and extremism.
Diana Cekic, an adviser, attended the meeting instead of Mladen Ivanic, the member of the Presidency from Republika Srpska.
