Bosnia and Herzegovina has a new medal at the Mediterranean Games “Taranto 2026”. Amina Fejzić won a bronze medal in karate, in the kumite category up to 68 kilograms.
Fejzić won the medal after an excellent performance in the competition of the best female karatekas in the Mediterranean, and she was particularly impressive in the fight for bronze.
Bh. the national team player opened the competition with a victory over Teodora Krstović from Serbia, whom she defeated with a score of 2:1 and qualified for the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals, Amina’s opponent was Feryal Ashraf Mohamed Abdelaziz from Egypt. After a fight with no points won, the winner was decided by the decision of the judges (Hantei), and the victory went to the Egyptian karateka.
Amina thus got a new chance through the rematch. In the first rematch, the official results register a win without a fight, followed by a match against Eda Eltemur from Turkey, which the Turkish woman won with a score of 4:3.
However, Fejzić showed character and quality in the battle for the bronze medal. Against Thalya Somba from France, she celebrated with a convincing score of 5:0 and thus secured a place on the podium.
The bronze from Taranto represents a great success for Amina Fejzić and a new valuable medal for Bosnia and Herzegovina at this year’s Mediterranean Games.
Amina Fejzić thus became another BiH athlete who climbed to the podium in Taranto and brought a medal to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
