Analysis: Airports Sarajevo and Tuzla recording a Major Increase

airportA total of 1,256,676 passengers passed through BH airports last year, which represents an increase of 8.5 % in comparison to a previous year when was recorded a total of 1,130,042 passengers, according to data of the Agency for Statistics of BiH.

A decrease in the number of passengers was recorded at airports in Mostar and Banja Luka, while the airports in Sarajevo and Tuzla recorded an increase in comparison to the year of 2015.

The largest turnover, according to the Directorate of Civil Aviation of BiH, was recorded by the International Airport Sarajevo, which recorded a total of 838,966 passengers (in comparison to 772,940 in 2015), as reported by Indikator.ba.

The International Airport Tuzla increased the number of passengers to 311,398 (in comparison to 259,094 in 2015), while the Airport Mostar recorded 53,618 passengers, which represents a decrease in comparison to the previous year when was recorded a total of 75,244 passengers.

The volume of transported cargo through air traffic in BiH is smaller than the previous year by 14.8 %. The total cargo transported by air amounted to 8,540.95 tons in 2016 (in 2015 it was 9733.3 tons), of which 7,267.09 tons loaded and 1,264.86 tons of unloaded cargo.

On the International Airport Sarajevo was reloaded a total of 2,470 tons of cargo, on the Tuzla Airport 6065.92 tons, and in Banja Luka 5.03 tons. There was no cargo traffic registered in the Mostar Airport in 2016.

In the year of 2016, in BiH was transported a total of 394 tons of mail by air, and all the traffic refers to the Airport Sarajevo.

A total of 16.7139 airport operations were recorded at BH airports in the year of 2016, which represents a decrease of 2.37 % in comparison to the previous year.
