The Council of Ministers of BiH, at the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, adopted the Analysis of Foreign Trade Exchange of BiH for the period I – IX of 2023, in which it is stated that the total exchange of goods in this period amounted to 33.42 billion BAM.
The value of exported goods was 12.65 billion BAM, and the value of imported goods was 20.77 billion BAM, while the foreign trade deficit was 8.11 billion BAM.
The main characteristics of foreign trade exchange for the nine months of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022 were a decrease in the total foreign trade exchange of BiH (3.69%), a decrease in imports (1.94%), a decrease in exports (6.44%), and the growth of the foreign trade deficit (6.02%).
In the same period, the coverage of imports by exports decreased by 2.93% and amounted to 60.94%.
In this period, Bosnia and Herzegovina mostly exported electricity in the value of 879.86 million BAM, insulated wire, cables in the value of 512.30 million BAM, iron or steel structures in the value of 458.50 million BAM, and seats and their parts in worth 437.37 million BAM.
At the same time, it mostly imported petroleum oils, apart from crude oil worth 1.78 billion BAM, passenger cars worth 818.40 million BAM, medicines worth a total of 477.69 million BAM, and hard coal, briquettes worth 460.66 million BAM.
Exports to EU countries in nine months last year amounted to 9.31 billion BAM, which is 6.77% less than in the same period in 2022, while imports amounted to 12.17 billion BAM, which is 1.96% more in compared to the same period of the previous year.
