Analysis: How many Inhabitants have BiH Cities lost since 2013?

By comparing the latest official data and the population census from 2013, it is estimated that Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)has 3.3 million inhabitants, which means that the number of inhabitants has decreased by more than 152,300 or 4.31 percent since 2013.

The municipalities and cities with the largest decrease in the number of inhabitants in 2021 compared to the aforementioned census in each of the cantons, or regions in the Republika Srpska(RS) were singled out. Also, all municipalities and cities with an increase in the number of inhabitants compared to the 2013 census were singled out.

Posavina Canton

Posavina Canton had 40,422 inhabitants by mid-2021, which is 3,031 or 6.98 percent less than in 2013.

Odzak lost the most inhabitants in this canton. It is estimated that by the middle of 2021, it had 18,570 inhabitants, which is 1,402 or 7.45 percent less than in 2013.

Canton 10

Drvar lost the most inhabitants in this canton. It is estimated that by the middle of 2021, it had 5,856 inhabitants, which is 1,180 or 16.77 percent less than in 2013.

Bosnian-Podrinje canton

By the middle of 2021, the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton had 22,382 inhabitants, which is 1,352 or 5.67 percent less than in 2013.

When it comes to this canton, Pale lost the most inhabitants. It is estimated that by the middle of 2021, they had 793 inhabitants, which is 111 or 12.28 percent less than in 2013.

Herzegovina-Neretva Canton

By the middle of 2021, the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton had 214,523 inhabitants, which is 7,484 or 3.37 percent less than in 2013.

Prozor lost the most inhabitants in this canton. It is estimated that by the middle of 2021 it had 13,271 inhabitants, which is 1,009 or 7.06 percent less than in 2013.

Zenica-Doboj canton

The Zenica-Doboj canton had 354,285 inhabitants by mid-2021, which is 10,148 or 2.79 percent less than in 2013.

Vares lost the most inhabitants in this canton. It is estimated that by the middle of 2021 it had 7,501 inhabitants, which is 1,391 or 15.64 percent less compared to the last population census.

Tuzla canton

Tuzla Canton had 434,424 inhabitants by mid-2021, which is 10,604 or 2.38 percent less than in 2013.

Kladanj lost the most inhabitants in this canton. It is estimated that by the middle of 2021, it had 11,415 inhabitants, which is 933 or 7.55 percent less than in 2013.

Canton of Sarajevo

Canton Sarajevo is the only canton in which the number of inhabitants increased by mid-2021 compared to 2013. By mid-2021, it had 419,918 inhabitants, which is 6,325 or 1.53 percent more than in 2013.

Total in BiH

There were 3,378,821 inhabitants in BiH in 2021, which is 210,205 or 5.95 percent less compared to the 2013 census, Klix.ba reports.
