[wzslider autoplay=”true”]Central event of marking the 11th anniversary of the 2nd Infantry Regiment of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the 24th anniversary of the forming of the Army of Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH) was held today at the barracks Rajlovac.
The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegović, Minister of Defense of BiH Marina Pendeš, as well as representatives of veterans’ organizations and diplomatic core. A varied cultural and artistic program was prepared, and the attendees remembered those who gave their lives for the defense of BiH in an appropriate way.
“Army of Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina really fought in a way which the attackers on BiH did not expect. It may sound pretentious to some, but it made a miracle of Bosnian resistance. With unarmed people, with people expelled from their homes, with people afflicted in that moment, the ARBiH made an armed force that first opposed, then accepted the fight, and in 1993 and 1994 organized and started fighting back and winning, liberating BiH,” Izetbegović said.
Izetbegović highlighted that in 1995 the ARBiH did not lose a single fight, except the safe zone of the UN that the UN was supposed to defend.
Moreover, Izetbegović spoke about the Armed Forces of BiH (OSBiH), which nowadays represents one of the strongest parameters for BiH being a part of NATO.
“The Armed Forces of BiH are one of better institutions and organizations, one of the successful projects of BiH. Paradoxically, because it is comprised of components that have been mutually fighting for years. The soldiers are even role models for politicians, how that can and should be done,” Izetbegović said.
Commandant of the 2nd Infantry Regiment of OSBiH, Brigadier Senad Pajić, said he is honored to be a commandant of this regiment that inherits the military tradition and identity of the nations out of which the ARBiH derived.
“We are performing our tasks in full capacity. We are working on saving from oblivion the role of this army and the heroic act it made. This army ensured that we have the country of BiH now, it ensured freedom for all its citizens, and normal life and work for all of us,” Pajić said.
