Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said today that Iran sees no reason to negotiate with the United States, because the two countries were in the middle of negotiations when the Americans decided to attack Iran.

“We see no reason to negotiate with the Americans because we were in the middle of talks with them when they decided to attack us, and this was the second time this has happened,” Araghchi said in an interview with the American television network CBS.

The Iranian foreign minister was referring to the US operation launched in June 2025, amid ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

“We have never asked for a ceasefire, or even negotiations, since the start of the war on February 28 between Israel and the United States and Iran,” Araghchi added, while US President Donald Trump said earlier today that Tehran wants to “reach an agreement” to end the war.
