Are there Paramilitary Camps in Bosnia and Herzegovina?

After the Police in Moldova allegedly arrested four people, who they claim were trained in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia to cause riots during the referendum that will be held in that country tomorrow, together with the presidential elections, the question has been raised again – are there paramilitary camps to our country. The Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina denied the allegations that such trainings were conducted in Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the other hand, Defense Minister Zukan Helez does not rule out such allegations, claiming that they should be investigated.

After the allegations of the Moldovan police about the potential existence of paramilitary camps in Bosnia and Herzegovina, there were reactions from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s institution. The Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina denied and deemed unfounded the allegations that the alleged training of Moldovan citizens was carried out in Bosnia and Herzegovina. These are incorrect and unsubstantiated claims which, according to the Ministry’s announcement, have nothing to do with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina has not received any official inquiries from the Moldovan authorities, nor has any evidence been submitted that would confirm the aforementioned claims. Mentioning Bosnia and Herzegovina in this context is clearly an attempt at manipulation in the midst of a heated political campaign in Moldova, which is electing on October 20 the President of the Republic”, say the Ministry of Security of BiH.

They believe that Bosnia and Herzegovina is deliberately placed in the context of a certain type of involvement in the events in Moldova because we are a country that has not imposed sanctions on Russia.

The Ministry of Security would not and will not tolerate the occurrence of any training camps, according to the statement. At the same time, other BiH the minister says that it is official data from the Moldovan police that needs to be investigated and that the Intelligence and Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina is already working on.

ZUKAN HELEZ, Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina:

“It’s not that there aren’t some serious things, but I don’t want to go public. When we have full information, I don’t want to be frivolous. This is what I can say right now.”

The arrests of individuals in Moldova who are suspected of being trained to cause riots on that country’s soil come ahead of key elections that will decide Moldova’s future path in Europe. Along with the presidential elections, a referendum on the inclusion of the Moldovan path to EU membership in the Constitution is expected tomorrow. According to the allegations, the arrested persons and another 100 identified who are still at large were trained in alleged camps in Russia, Serbia and BiH, and were tasked with causing riots and violence before and after the elections and referendum.

“It is possible again that it is about spins, it is possible that as a captured country we are exposed to the propaganda work of the intelligence services. We are actually a country where the border between East and West is being established. It is a fertile ground for various troublemakers and intelligence agents. I think that that’s why, although I say there is no reliable information.”

ENVER KAZAZ, sociologist:

“Most of the Moldovan police charge that they were trained in Russia, only a small part in Serbia and BiH. I think it is too early to assess whether this is true information, whether it is true that they were trained that one part of them in Serbia and BiH .”

Defense Minister Zukan Helez previously claimed on several occasions that there are Russian camps in the east of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but that this case is something new and has nothing to do with earlier claims that are now being investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office, according to BHRT.
