The Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AF BiH) have been continuously engaged in providing assistance to civilian authorities and the population in emergency situations, especially in the firefighting, where they made their full contribution.

In the period between March and early September, especially during the summer months, AF BiH have been engaged on several occasions in land-based firefighting operations at the locations of municipalities: Konjic, Mostar, Tomislavgrad, Bileća, Trebinje, Medjugorje, Berkovici , Livno, Gacko, Bosansko Grahovo, Drvar, Kupres, Ravno, Jablanica and Ljubinje.

Given that the fires occurred in remote and inaccessible areas, the helicopter units of the BiH AF with helicopters Mi-8T and Mi-8MTV were used for firefighting.

During these firefighting activities, more than 250 members of the AF were engaged, where helicopter units of the AF realized a total of 226.3 hours of flight, with about 1850 tons of discharged water, 212 persons transported, and 18 tons of various cargo and equipment transported by air.
