The Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Zlatko Lagumdžija met with the Minister for New and Renewable Energy of India Abdullaha Farroq yesterday, on the second day of his official visit to India.
Minister Farooq spoke with the BiH delegation with the plans and investment potential of India in the area of renewable energy. India is currently one of the leading countries in the world in technologies using biological waste and solar energy. India proposed for Indian experts to visit BiH to find out the opportunities for improving the further development of this strategic sector. The BiH delegation accepted this proposal.
They also agreed for the experts from both countries, after examining the situation on the field regarding possibilities for the energy sector, to begin with exchanging knowledge and technology, especially in using biomass technology, or wood and other waste for energy. Further, they agreed on cooperation and on a plan for solar and wind energy, for which exists great potential in the south of the country.
Lagumdžija and Minister Farooq agreed that after the initial examination and exchange of information and experience, followed by confirmation of further development opportunities, there will be a signing of a Memorandum on cooperation in the energy sector, after which they would be shifted to the identification and implementation of specific activities of energy projects in the works.
