Lions have arrived in Sarajevo Zoo ‘Pionirska Dolina’ on Tuesday, 26 March in evening hours.
Three year old male and seven year old female came to Sarajevo from two Bulgarian ZOOs accompanied by manager of Pionirska Dolina Esad Tajić and veterinarian Vedad Škapur and manger of Zoo Ivan Ivanov, veterinarian Ivan Cvetkov and biologist Radko Sertov.
Because of veterinarian measures and the weather, lions will spend 30 days in quarantine under the surveillance of veterinarian service of ‘Pionirska Dolina’, said Public Utility Company ‘Park’.
They will be placed in the newly built vivarium on area of 1200 m2, with 180 m2 of internal space.
The official handover ceremony will be held on Friday.
The top-class vivarium has everything that these animals need, but also, it has impenetrable glass, and steel bars so that the visitors would feel more comfortable at looking at them.
