Assembly of Istočni Stari Grad Municiplity: Conclusions on Cross on Zlatiste

cross2Assembly of Istočni Stari Grad municipality issued two conclusions at a session on November 24 regarding the illegally erected memorial – cross on Zlatište, President of the Municipal Assembly Stevan Sanda told FENA.

”The first conclusion states that ‘Commission for Memorials’ of Istočni Stari Grad Municipality delivered a notice on November 5 which stated that it did not receive any initiative to erect memorial on Zlatište – territory of 5 Istočni Stari Grad municipality, in accordance with the Law on Monuments and Memorials of Liberation War,” said Sanda.

The Assembly finds that illegally erected memorial (without construction permit) and without blessing of the Serbian Orthodox Church is not a memorial, and it calls people who illegally erected it to remove it in accordance with the law. After removal of the illegal memorial, the Assembly is willing to consider any request submitted by the Association of Concentration Camp Survivors of RS to erect a memorial in memory of the murdered victims, it was concluded at the Assembly of Istočni Stari Grad municipality.
