The Association of Bosnian and Herzegovinian (BiH) Doctors in Germany and the University Clinical Center (UKC) Tuzla signed on Monday, January 26th, a Memorandum of Cooperation that formalizes and further deepens their mutual cooperation in the field of professional development and knowledge exchange. The aim of the memorandum is to establish structured cooperation that will enable study visits by Tuzla doctors to clinics in Germany, the transfer of contemporary medical knowledge and practices from Germany to BiH, as well as the organization of study stays for UKC Tuzla doctors in German healthcare institutions, along with the development of other joint professional and educational activities.

The Director of UKC Tuzla, Prof. Dr. Sekib Umihanic, emphasized that the signing of the Memorandum represents a significant step forward in strengthening the international cooperation of this healthcare institution. “Such forms of cooperation enable our doctors to have direct contact with advanced healthcare systems and modern treatment methods, which in the long term contribute to improving the quality of healthcare we provide to patients in the Tuzla Canton (TC) and beyond,” Umihanic stressed.

The Vice President of the Association of BiH Doctors in Germany, Dr. Nisada Rehic-Skokic, stated that the Memorandum represents a continuation of the Association’s mission to make the knowledge and experience of BiH doctors from the diaspora available to the healthcare system of BiH. “Our goal is to build bridges of cooperation between colleagues in Germany and colleagues in BiH through concrete exchange programs, education, and joint projects,” said Dr. Nisada.

The signed Memorandum is part of a broader strategy of the Association of BiH Doctors in Germany, through which cooperation with hospitals and clinical centers in BiH is being systematically developed. Through this strategy, the Association seeks to contribute to strengthening the capacities of the domestic healthcare system, improving the professional competencies of medical staff, and creating long-term professional ties between healthcare institutions in BiH and Germany.

The Association of BiH Doctors in Germany brings together doctors of BiH origin who work in healthcare institutions throughout Germany. Through study stays, professional visits, education, and mentoring work, the Association actively contributes to strengthening professional capacities in BiH, the exchange of knowledge, the transfer of medical technologies, and the improvement of the healthcare system, with a special focus on long-term and sustainable connections of the diaspora with institutions in the homeland.
