At least 265 bodies have been recovered after an Air India plane carrying 242 people crashed into a medical college dormitory in western India, the Press Trust of India news agency reported on Thursday.
The Air India flight was en route to the UK and was carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members, including two pilots.
The plane crashed directly into a medical college dormitory, and officials said students and residents of the surrounding area were among the dead and injured.
Indian Home Minister Amit Shah said he had visited a survivor and added that the final death toll would be confirmed after DNA identification of the victims.
According to the airline, the passengers included 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals and one Canadian national.
