Attempted Terrorist Attack in Istanbul: One dead, Five People injured, Attackers killed

Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya announced that 2 terrorists, members of DHKP/C, who attempted to attack the checkpoint in Çağlayan Courthouse in Istanbul today, were neutralized.

Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya announced that an attempt was made to attack the checkpoint in front of Gate C of Istanbul Çağlayan Courthouse at 11.46 today.

The attack attempt was prevented and 2 terrorists were neutralized. In the attack, 1 citizen died and 5 people, including 3 police officers, were injured.

“I congratulate our heroic police officers. I wish a speedy recovery to our injured people. We will continue to share the developments with the public.” Yerlikaya said.

Pieces of cloth and flags were found in the terrorists’ bag

While the courthouse was closed to entrances and exits after the attack, Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Şaban Yılmaz and deputy chief prosecutors were investigating the scene.

According to initial findings, pieces of cloth and flags belonging to the terrorist organization were found in the bag next to one of the terrorists. It is estimated that the terrorists planned to unfurl the flags after the attack.
