Austria is Biggest Investor in BiH With Round 1.19 Billion Euros

The total amount of investments from Austria to BiH in the period from 1994-2011 amounts to 1.194 billion euros, which makes the country the top investor in BiH for many years already, said the trade advisor of the Austrian Embassy to BiH Sigmund Nemeti.

He said that foreign investors have encountered obstacles on a daily basis, which include a delay in issuing permits, especially construction, and complex and slow administration with unclear legislative competencies.

“We are thinking primarily of the vague rules, as well as the regulations that have been issued by various levels of government that are mutually contradictory’’, said Nemeti.

Taking into account the framework in which the European Economy is currently developing, Nemeti thinks that currently they do not favor the arrival of investors in BiH.

He pointed out that Austrian businesspeople are interested in all branches of the economy, but on the basis of interest in the last few years it can be said that they are particularly interested in the metal processing sector and the production of machinery, infrastructure and energy.

Nemeti rated the current economic cooperation between BiH and Austria as very good.

“Especially if you take into account the current world trends in economy, we can be very happy because we are marking a steady growth in trade on both sides’’, said Nemeti.
