German Chancellor Olaf Scholz presented his vision of the new European Union on Monday, calling for much stronger unity among European states against Russia. He pointed out that Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and the six countries of the Western Balkans belong to the EU and are part of a free and democratic Europe.
At the opening of the 17th edition of the Bled Strategic Forum (BSF), Borut Pahor, President of Slovenia, called on Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, to give Bosnia and Herzegovina candidate status for joining the European Union without any additional conditions until end of this year.
Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer (Nehammer) briefly commented on this for the portal “Avaz“, and pointed out that security and stability in Austria is connected with the Western Balkans.
“For me, it is clear: security and stability in our country are connected with the Western Balkans. Therefore, it was very important for me to focus on Bosnia and Herzegovina at the last European Council in Brussels. Austria will continue to support Bosnia and Herzegovina in the process of getting closer to the EU and is looking forward to the candidate status, which is also related to the progress of BiH. Because one thing is clear: the EU is not complete without the Western Balkans,” concluded Nehamer.
