Austrian President Heinz Fischer Today in Sarajevo

heinz fischerThe  Federal President of Austria Heinz Fischer, invited by the Chairman of the BiH Presidency and Mayor of Sarajevo, will attend a concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra today on the occasion of 100th anniversary of assassination of Prince Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie in Sarajevo.

 

According to the Austrian President Fischer, the focus of this anniversary and all the activities will be to mark the peace. ”I wish we mark this day together, as day of peace”, President Fischer said.

 

Before coming to Sarajevo, Austrian Federal President said he hopes that all representatives of the state of BiH will use the opportunity to mark this historical day together and with view of free, independent BiH. It is clear to him that the future of BiH is in the EU. He said that the European Union is still a peace project which promises greatest success in the region and which will bring many positive developments in the neighborhood.

 

”It is important to me to personally to participate in the commemoration ceremony in Sarajevo”, said Heinz Fischer. For him the commemoration of June 28th  1914 is jointly marked as “a sign full of hope for the future”.

 

”I am happy that Austria is being presented on this day as a close friend and partner of BiH”, said the Austrian President before coming to Sarajevo.

 

Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra led by General Music Director Franz Welser-Möst will hold a commemoration concert at the Sarajevo City Hall today.
