The traditional boxing event “Sarajevo Fight Night,” the ninth in a row, will be held today, October 31st, at the Youth Center in Sarajevo.

The organizer of the event is Kamp Sport Peljto, which this year is joined by “Team Avdic” from Innsbruck, thereby raising the event to a higher level of international cooperation and quality. The organizers stated that the audience can expect top-level matches, professional production and atmosphere, and that the main fight of the evening will feature the Bosnian-Austrian boxer Edin Avdic, the WBA titleholder, and his challenger, the German David Kerkmann.

The president of the Boxing Federation of Professional Boxing of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Zaim Numanovic, said at yesterday’s press conference that this will be the best boxing event ever held in BiH.

“I would like to tell all competitors to continue working on their fitness in order to continue successfully promoting our country on the international scene. I believe that we are now in a period when the expansion of boxing in BiH has reached its peak and that a large number of young boxers in BiH now want to establish themselves through professional boxing,” said Numanovic.

In his address, Edin Avdic emphasized that he is very glad to be “building a bridge” between his hometown, Innsbruck, and Sarajevo, and that he got the opportunity to defend the title he won in his hometown, Innsbruck, in the capital of BiH.

“This is a dream come true for me. I had intense preparations, I am ready for tomorrow’s match, and I expect victory,” said Avdic yesterday.

Edin Puhalo, also known as “Iron Puki,” will fight against Marvin Ruf. In his address, Puhalo wished Edin Avdic success in defending the WBA title, advancing on the ranking list, and getting a chance to fight for the world title.

“This is also in a way an eliminatory fight for me that can give me the opportunity to fight for the WBA title, and I hope that in the end I will get that opportunity. I have prepared very well and hope to achieve victory. The organizers have truly brought in top-level fighters and prepared everything at the highest level,” said “Iron Puki.”

In addition to the main fight, today the amateur matches will be held between Aleksandar Veljovic and Adis Ajanovic, Niko Kruselburger and Emel Kurtovic, Emirhan Gynell and Fariz Ganija, and Yasin Bulut and Ahmed Besic, while the professional fights will feature Ibrahim Grevic and Eldar Hodzic, Dragan Dragojevic and Kenan Hanjalic, Edhem Hrustic and Benjamin Poturak, Kenan Catic and Vuk Micic, and Marvin Ruf and Edin Puhalo.

Edin Avdic was born in Innsbruck and began boxing at the age of 13. Already in 2013, in the first year of his boxing career, he won gold at the Austrian Youth Championship and was immediately invited to the national team of that country, after which numerous victories, championship titles, and international appearances followed. After more than 150 amateur fights, nine Austrian championship titles, and ten years in the Austrian national team, Avdic turned professional in 2021 and has remained undefeated since then, with knockout victories and international titles.
