Barcelona footballer Ansu Fati performed Umrah in Mecca before the Spanish Super Cup final between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Umrah involves visiting the Kaaba and performing religious rituals. It is conducted outside the period of Hajj and can be performed throughout the year, except during the days of Eid and the Day of Arafah.
Fati, 22 years old, was once considered one of Barcelona’s biggest talents. However, his career has been on a decline. The forward for the Blaugrana is now valued at just 10 million euros on the football market, whereas a few years ago, his market value was eight times higher.
At one point, he inherited the iconic number ten jersey from Lionel Messi but never lived up to its expectations.
Recently, Ansu spent time on loan at Brighton, where he failed to make an impact. This season, he has played only 186 minutes across eight matches and is not part of Hansi Flick’s plans.
Fati was born in Guinea-Bissau and represents Spain at the international level.
Barcelona and Real Madrid will compete today at 8 p.m. for the first trophy of the season.
The Catalans eliminated Athletic Bilbao in the semifinals with a 2–0 victory, while Real Madrid convincingly defeated Mallorca 3–0.
