BATE Borisov beat FK Sarajevo 2-1 in Europa League Qualifiers

Visiting Belarusian football club BATE Borisov beat Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH’s) FK Sarajevo 2-1 here on Thursday evening in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.

The first half saw attacking football from both teams, and in the 19th minute, Dmitri Baga scored to gift Borisov a 1-0 lead in Bilino Polje Stadium in Zenica, a city located 70 kilometers northwest of the capital Sarajevo.

Slobodan Milanovic from the host team had the best opportunity for FK Sarajevo in the first half in the 39th minute, but the ball went wide.

In the 65th minute, Anel Hebibovic from the host team hit the ball from the penalty area, which passed near the left side of the goal with a difference of only several centimeters.

Darko Lazic from the host team knocked down one of the visiting players in the 70th minute, after which the referee Alexandre Boucaut gave him a yellow card, followed by Hervaine Moukam’s score for the visiting team.

In the 77th minute, the referee dismissed the game after fans threw pyrotechnic objects, and after 8 minutes, the match continued.

Assisted by Aladin Sisic, Handzic scored for the host team in the 89th minute, Xinhua reports.
