BC Bosna became the Champion of Europe 37 years ago!

12939632_1147930785257876_913509236_nApril 5, 1979 will remain forever written in the history of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian and Yugoslav sport.

On that day 37 years ago, the basketball club Bosna became the champion of Europe in the French city of Grenoble, defeating the Italian Emerson from Varese with a result of 96:93.

In this way, the club from Sarajevo became the first team from the former Yugoslavia that won the title of the best club in the Old continent.

Players in the BiH then were Delibašić, Varajić, Vučević, Benaček, Đogić, Bosiočić, Izić, Radovanović, Hadžić, Zrno, Bilalović and Pešić, while the legendary Bogdan Tanjević sat on the bench.

In the final match with 12.000 spectators present, the captain of the Students Žarko Varajić scored incredible 45 points, setting the record that has not been broken ever since. The best athlete of BiH of all times, Mirza Delibašić, added another 30 points to the result.
