Beauties of Bosnia: The most beautiful river – Una

strbacki bukAlways remember the story of famous Bosnian travel writer and painter, Zuko Dzumhur and his garden rest with friends when he asks a servants boy to change position of rocks in the nearby stream, ’cause he “now wants to listen a somewhat different tune”

If a stream is a gentle song, then waterfalls are really symphony of various sounds and feelings. Waterfalls have other surprising effects, billions of refreshing driblets, refraction of light and the joy of God’s creation. Here, in my country, there are lot of these. Three of them are really gorgeous and magnificent, and here is my experience with them.

The most beautiful river in Bosnia – Una

This one is on Una river, north-west of Bosnia. I was only once here and I will probably never forget it. This noisy, shining and refreshing waterfall is close to Bihac, which is some 250 kilometers far from Sarajevo. If you plan to visit it from Zagreb, Croatia, it’s even closer. This place is ideal for rafting tour and I did it with my colleagues. If you really want to get closer with some people, sit with them in a dinghy and team building is guaranteed.

Downhill down the river takes about 3 hours. Start is from the waterfall foothill, but don’t think that you will avoid flow of adrenaline in the veins. Some dozens of smaller and also exiting waterfalls just wait for you after you start from the big one. Before start, enjoy the beauty of Strbacki Buk, shoot photos from all possible positions, look for the brave skippers jumping from the top of the waterfall, after they release rubber boats regatta.

After some efforts there is always a reward, when you finish with all waterfalls on Una River, smooth and relaxing drive is the last stage of this raft tour. Of course, you are not still finished because some roasted lamb is waiting at the end of the road, but about that on some other occasion.

The video on the beauty of Una waterfalls can be seen on the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eqASpHNpaA
