Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Denis Becirovic, spoke with General Christopher Cavoli, Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO and Commander of the United States (U.S.) European Command.

The discussion focused on maintaining security and stability in BiH in the context of current security challenges. On this occasion, it was stated that in the event of any attempt to undermine peace and security, the state authorities of BiH, NATO, and EUFOR would respond decisively and in a necessary manner to protect peace and the state.

Becirovic provided General Cavoli with a detailed briefing on the dangerous anti-Dayton separatist activities of the leadership of the BiH entity Republika Srpska (RS). He emphasized that the political actions of the authorities of this entity are aimed at undermining the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of BiH, posing a serious threat to peace and security in the entire region.

He also stressed that destructive forces in the region are openly acting against the constitutional order of BiH and the Dayton Peace Agreement. In this context, Becirovic stated that it is important for NATO to remain strongly engaged in BiH and the Western Balkans, a region whose stability is of strategic importance to the Alliance.

Member of the Presidency of BiH, Denis Becirovic, expressed gratitude to NATO for its continuous support in strengthening BiH’s defense capacities, improving the training and capabilities of the Armed Forces of BiH (AFBiH), as well as overall reforms aimed at intensifying BiH’s Euro-Atlantic integration.

The interlocutors expressed their readiness to strengthen cooperation through new NATO mechanisms and programs and emphasized the importance of continuing the implementation of necessary reforms and improving BiH’s security framework.

Furthermore, Becirovic highlighted that BiH is a reliable NATO partner and is prepared to contribute even more strongly to international security. He stated that in the coming period, BiH will enhance the interoperability of its institutions, particularly in the defense and security sectors, through participation in NATO exercises and training, as well as in international peace support missions.

The interlocutors concluded that the Individual Tailored Partnership Program between NATO and BiH, covering the period from 2005 to 2028, is an additional mechanism and an adequate platform for accelerating NATO integration, according to a statement from Becirovic’s office.
