Becirovic and El-Sisi confirmed friendly relations between BiH and Egypt, readiness for cooperation

Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, said today in Cairo after a meeting with the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, that BiH and Egypt traditionally have good and friendly relations, and that the best days of cooperation between the two countries are yet to come.

He added that the friendship between the two countries has been confirmed many times so far, and Egypt’s strong support continued in the post-Dayton period.

“BiH strongly and principledly supports the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Egypt, and highly appreciates its role as a leader of the Arab world and the African continent, an important country in the Middle East and in general in the Mediterranean,” Bećirović said.

He expressed his desire and willingness to host President El-Sisi in Sarajevo, as high-level visits contribute to strengthening overall bilateral relations.

Bećirović stated that there is a readiness for cooperation in the field of defense where BiH the industry has great potential, but also that there is a need to improve the overall trade exchange and economic cooperation.

He emphasized that during the conversation with President El-Sisi, he emphasized that BiH sincerely wants peace to reign in Gaza as soon as possible and that the only lasting solution is the existence of two states – Israel and Palestine.

President El-Sisi confirmed that Egypt’s firm position regarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the willingness to cooperate with various components of its society, in a way that achieves stability and development there.

He congratulated the recent approval of the European Council for the opening of accession negotiations with BiH, wishing success and progress on this vital path of the country’s future.

El-Sisi added that it is a common interest to use and develop existing cooperation mechanisms, including the activation of the Joint Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in order to increase trade between the two countries.

He also emphasized that they agreed on the vital importance of concerted international efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to ensure the flow of humanitarian aid to all parts of the sector, while immediately and seriously engaging in the paths leading to the achievement of a political, just and permanent solution to the Palestinian issue.

“Finally, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the invitation to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina. I look forward to that visit as soon as possible in order to continue our efforts to improve the relations between our countries,” El-Sisi said, Fena news agency writes.
