Denis Bećirović, a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina received the newly appointed ambassador of the Slovak Republic to BiH, Roman Hlobeň, on an inaugural visit.

The two officials discussed the Slovak Republic’s support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European path, and Ambassador Hlobeň congratulated our country on acquiring candidate status for membership in the European Union.

Bećirović thanked the Government of the Slovak Republic for participating in the EUFOR-ALTEA mission, i.e. sending additional soldiers as part of the contingent of European military forces.

At the meeting, they also talked about the support that the Slovak Republic, through the Visegrad Group, has provided to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the countries of the Western Balkans on the way to membership in the EU and NATO, and Bećirović pointed out that within the framework of work on foreign policy priorities, he is also focused on the path of Bosnia and Herzegovina towards NATO membership.

The interlocutors emphasized the need to increase trade between the two countries and to continue organizing economic forums.

They also discussed the contribution of experts from the Slovak Republic in the process of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s accession to the Erasmus Plus program, in which many Bosnian universities still participate in projects of exchange of teaching staff and students, stated the BiH Presidency.
