Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Denis Becirovic organized in the Presidency of BiH a ceremonial reception for the best para-swimmers of BiH, Ismail Barlov and Ismail Zulfic, who returned to BiH after participating in the World Championship in Singapore.
Becirovic said that Barlov and Zulfic are true champions and sports heroes of BiH.
He congratulated Ismail Barlov on the outstanding result and winning the silver medal in the 50-meter breaststroke discipline, by which he became the vice-champion of the world. He emphasized that in doing so, Ismail Barlov rounded off an impressive series of won medals – world, European, and Paralympic in the senior category, as stated by the Office of the Member of the Presidency of BiH, Denis Becirovic.
The Member of the Presidency of BiH also congratulated Ismail Zulfic, who, with his performances at the World Championship in Singapore, achieved notable results. He emphasized that taking eighth place in the 50-meter backstroke race and twelfth place in the 200-meter medley race testifies to his dedication and enormous potential. It was particularly highlighted that Ismail Zulfic is the senior European record holder in the 100-meter butterfly discipline.
Becirovic said that the participation of Ismail Barlov and Ismail Zulfic at the World Championship in Singapore confirmed their status as top para-swimmers. He also thanked coach Amel Kapo for his dedicated work, support, and promotion of inclusive sport through the Swimming Club Spid, whose contribution is key to the affirmation of para-swimmers and the development of young talents in BiH.
During the conversation, he emphasized that the results of young athletes and their coaches are not only sporting successes, but also strong messages of courage and perseverance. It was emphasized that their successes represent true pride for the whole of BiH, and that with their results, they promote BiH in the best light and serve as role models for future generations.
The Member of the Presidency of BiH added that the state must ensure systemic support so that such results become the rule, not the exception. He emphasized that the doors of the Presidency of BiH will always be open to young people and coaches who, with their commitment and successes, inspire the whole country and represent BiH in the best light on the international stage, as stated in the announcement.
The meeting was also attended by the para-swimmers’ coach, Amel Kapo, and Nihad Barlov.
