Representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zlatan Begić (DF) spoke on the occasion of the announcement of the Embassy of the United States of America (USA) in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
“Instead of seeking the implementation of Dayton through the implementation of the European Convention and the judgments of the European Court – which is a legal obligation according to Dayton itself, the US Embassy has been working for decades on a quiet evolutionary revision of it – based on the large-state policies of Belgrade and Zagreb. Since the implementation of the same judgments of the Constitutional Court in different ways in the two entities, which is why there is a well-known disproportion in the organization of government in the entities, through the Law on Residence, up to the electoral law, the undermining of proceedings before the European Court led by discriminated BiH citizens and now to the state Constitutional Court,” states Begić, who is also a professor of constitutional law.
He adds that until now, for the most part, they have always had the same henchmen for such anti-state actions, such as, as he says, the SDP or currently the OHR.
“But now in the House of Peoples, they needed an accomplice to destroy the Constitutional Court and strengthen big-state policies in BiH – all in accordance with ‘procedures’, so that our ‘friends’ or the OHR would not have to additionally dirty their own hands with that unpleasant work. It is well known that, once a law is passed at the state level – that, thanks to undemocratic decision-making procedures, it is simply impossible to change it, just as it is impossible under existing circumstances to implement any decision of the Constitutional Court through the parliamentary procedure – if it is unconstitutional,” Begić points out.
He reminds that this straitjacket was also imposed on the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina by Dayton
“Aside from the fact that they appointed HDZ’s Vukoja to the Constitutional Court through the troika – also in an unconstitutional way (which can have a decisive influence on every decision given the structure of the Constitutional Court), so now they are instructing us to appeal to such a Constitutional Court. Simplified In other words, they want us to hang ourselves by our own rope and by our own hands.
From their perspective, the problem is those who refuse to commit suicide (figuratively speaking), after killing the rule of law, democracy, state institutions and the state itself. The American administration’s sacred cow of friendship has already swallowed many democratic values in BiH, weakened institutions, destroyed free civil society and the media, etc..
Democracy, the rule of law and democratic principles – as in the USA – yes, the humiliating US apartheid policy in BiH – no! You have discriminated against everyone and threaten everyone who opposes the wave of big-state policies and further discrimination, you are seriously violating the Dayton you refer to.
From the position of bare power, you openly threaten and restrict freedom of speech and opinion, and that to those who are already severely discriminated against, you mess around in Strasbourg, you hatch conspiracies against honest people, intellectuals and citizens of this country who are fighting for democracy and the rule of law and against apartheid (all is known!), you brought to power people who are directly connected to drug cartels, etc. The masks fell off, thank you – to no one,” says Begić.
He says that the holders of big state policies in Belgrade and Zagreb, Dodik and Čović, are looking forward to them.
“In the end, you left them in power through the Troikas, even though the government could have been formed without them after the 2022 elections – right? The free people of this country will continue to fight for all those democratic values on which the great American nation was founded , which you brutally trampled on in our homeland,” concludes Begić, Klix.ba writes.
