During an official visit to the Honorary Consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Bosnian House in Birmingham, the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić, was presented with the “Distinguished Statesman Award” as an expression of recognition for his exceptional contribution to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Consulate announced.

The award was presented by Anes Cerić, Honorary Consul of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Midlands region, on behalf of the Bosnian community in the United Kingdom.

As stated, Komšić was awarded the award for his long-standing and consistent commitment to preserving a unique, multi-ethnic Bosnia and Herzegovina in which all communities can live side by side in equality, democratic rights and freedom, as well as for his courageous leadership in promoting inclusion, justice and long-term cohesion of the state.

The award ceremony was held as part of the celebration of the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the presence of representatives of the diplomatic corps, local authorities, the Bosnian diaspora and numerous friends of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the United Kingdom.

Thanking for the recognition, Komšić emphasized the importance of the strong bond between the homeland and the diaspora, as well as the role of the BiH community in preserving the identity, values, and international reputation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It was emphasized that this recognition symbolizes the sincere gratitude of the BiH community in the United Kingdom for its continued support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European path, preservation of peace, the state, and strengthening ties with the diaspora.
