The landslide stabilization and stairway reconstruction project in the Great Park should be completed soon.

The project is funded by the Municipality Centar for 274.000 BAM. In the course of the works, four old damaged stairways have been removed and new, concrete ones, from 15 to 39 meters in length, were constructed, on which the hreša stone was set on all treads. New handrails were built along the stairs, and the installation of vertical public lighting is in progress.

‘’By now we have completed half of the works on the public lighting. What remains is the construction of the gutters for the surface water draining along the stairs, and the installation of floor lighting, which is to give a special charm to the park. The major cause of prolonging the completion of works are unfavorable weather condiditons. Of the additional works, we have included setting the stone slabs down the walking trails, for what additional 20.000 BAM are necessary to be allocated’’, said Fuad Babić, the coordinator for landslides from the Institute for Construction of the Sarajevo Canton who is, besides being the Project Manager, also in charge of the project supervision.

The construction started on March 23rd 2015, and when done, horticultural works will be restored in the area around the stairways to their original condition.
