The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the proposal of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and Coordination of the Fight Against Corruption, today adopted the Decision on the adoption of the Strategy for the Fight against Corruption 2024-2028 and the Action Plan for the implementation of the Strategy.
Adoption of the Strategy and Action Plan is aligned with 14 key priorities that Bosnia and Herzegovina needs to fulfill for membership in the European Union. Accession to the EU is a strategic priority of BiH, and the fight against corruption is one of the key challenges of the rule of law, as well as self-sustaining economic development and the quality of life of every citizen in BiH.
The Strategy and Action Plan, in the drafting of which representatives of all levels of government in BiH, international organizations and civil society organizations participated, reflect an unconditional commitment to the fight against corruption and the creation of systemic solutions for effective suppression of corruption.
The Strategy and Action Plan consist of five interconnected components: general principles, vision, strategic goals and programs, and corresponding activities that should contribute to the realization of the vision and set goals.
The general goal of the Strategy is to establish priorities for the prevention of corruption and the fight against corruption, the principles and mechanisms of the joint action of all institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as all parts of society in this field, and to create, that is, to improve the conditions for reducing the real and perceived level of corruption and to affirm positive social values such as integrity, responsibility and transparency.
The three main strategic goals are: to strengthen the system of prevention and coordination mechanisms; strengthening the mechanisms for detecting and proving corrupt criminal acts and prosecuting the perpetrators, as well as strengthening inter-institutional, regional and international cooperation, announced the CoM of BiH.
