The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Cooperation of Spain, José Manuel Alvares Bueno, signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation between the two ministries.
“I am glad that we have signed a memorandum of cooperation that guarantees us advice, technical and any other assistance from Spain on our way to the European Union. This will be very significant, not only because of the fact that Spain will hold the EU presidency from July 1, but also because the fact that, as one of the leading countries, the EU can help our way,” Konaković said.
Konaković stated that during the meeting with Bueno in Sarajevo, several important issues were raised, stating that they discussed how a large percentage of people in Bosnia and Herzegovina still support the European path.
Bueno conveyed that Spain supports the joining of the EU region, emphasizing that it will also be on the agenda of its EU presidency in the second half of this year.
The Spanish minister said that during the meeting with Konaković, he conveyed his interest in strengthening Spain’s presence in the Western Balkans in the economic, cultural and trade areas.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs continues his tour of the Western Balkans with a visit to Tirana today.
