During today’s meeting, Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović and Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) to BiH Julian Reilly confirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening the strategic partnership, cooperation and trust between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Kingdom through more intensive political dialogue and concrete projects.

The close and friendly relations between BiH and the UK were welcomed, as well as the intensive political dialogue and substantive cooperation between the two countries in numerous areas.

Bećirović thanked the UK for its continued support, especially in the areas of strengthening institutions, the rule of law, defence and cultural exchange.

He stressed the importance of continuing British engagement in BiH, assessing that the UK’s support is particularly important for the continuation of the Euro-Atlantic integration process of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the context of this year’s hosting of the Berlin Process in the UK, the interlocutors exchanged views on key priorities and initiatives aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and the progress of the countries of the region towards full membership in the European Union (EU).

Bećirović stressed that BiH actively supports the goals of the Berlin Process and that their implementation is an important contribution to strengthening stability and economic connectivity in the region.

He thanked the United Kingdom for its support to Bosnia and Herzegovina through programs that contribute to economic reforms, improving the business environment, democracy and dealing with the past.

He emphasized that relations between the two countries are developing in a positive direction, with the growth of trade and continued British support for the reforms and development of the Armed Forces of BiH, through projects to strengthen military capacities, train personnel and improve working and training conditions.

Ambassador Reilly confirmed the UK’s strong commitment to preserving the stability and progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He emphasized that he will continue to provide support for strengthening democratic institutions and the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and actively cooperate with domestic institutions in implementing reforms and strengthening economic and social ties between the two countries.

Reilly emphasized that the UK remains a reliable partner to Bosnia and Herzegovina, committed to its Euro-Atlantic and European future, the Office of BiH Presidency Member Denis Bećirović announced.
