In Germany, the chances of recognizing foreign workers’ professional qualifications have increased, and in the past foreigners had some difficulties in this process.

Last year, the authorities approved 65,300 requests, the Federal Statistical Office reported.

This is 25 percent more than the year before, and the increase is significantly higher than in the previous year, when there were 11 percent more positive decisions. Recognition of qualifications was refused in about 2,300 cases.

Two out of three positive recognition procedures (69 percent) refer to the medical profession. Of all procedures, more than half (56 percent) involve nurses, and 14 percent involve physicians.

Then there are engineers, teaching staff and teachers.

As much as 94 percent of requests were submitted by foreign citizens.

Every tenth “approved person” comes from Turkey. Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) follow, followed by the Philippines, Tunisia, Syria, India and Ukraine.

The number of new applications increased by 26 percent to 62,100 last year, Klix.ba writes.
