BiH elected for a Member of the Executive Board of UNICEF

The UNICEF logo is pictured on a building in GenevaBosnia and Herzegovina was elected for a member of the Executive Board of UNICEF for a period from 2016 to 2018 at the session of UN – Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) which was held in New York on 8th April, as announced from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of BiH.

Bosna and Herzegovina, through its Permanent mission in the UN in New York, continues the trend of notable activities in the Head of UN in the field of human rights, by which it become recognizable since a long time, as in its main organs as well as in functional bodies and commissions.

This year, Bosnia and Herzegovina is a member of the UN- Peacebuilding Commission – Entity for gender equality “UN WOMEN“, UN – Commission of the Status of Women and UN Committee for conferences, and from 1st January 2016,  list will be expanded with the membership in the Executive Board of UNICEF.

Bosnia and Herzegovina also applied a candidature for the membership in ECOSOC (for the period from 2017 to 2019), which is the main UN organ for economic and social development issues, and is being actively preparing for elections that will be held in June 2016 in New York.

By this, Bosnia and Herzegovina confirms its readiness to actively participate in discussion and decision- making of all global issues, starting from the issue of peace and security through the UN – Security Council, through human rights issues through the UN – Human rights council, issues of maintaining and building of peace through the UN – Peacebuilding Commission, to the issues of global economic development through ECOSOC, as announced in the statement of the Office of Public Relations of MIA BiH.
