BiH Electric Utility Company recorded a Loss of 500 Million BAM

Elektroprivreda Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), in the period January-September 2023, achieved a negative financial result in the amount of approximately 50 million BAM, the company announced.

”The trend of negative business caused by energy, price-cost and other circumstances will continue until the end of the year.

The financial losses of the company, whose functioning is of fundamental importance for preserving the integrity and stability of the electric power system, are the result of disruptions in the electricity market, a significant reduction in the volume of market sales and the impossibility of realizing projected revenues in the field of trade.

The financial operations of the company were also affected by limiting or restricting price growth within the market supply to a maximum of 20 percent compared to the previous year, which is effective from January 2022.

In February of this year, Elektroprivreda BiH informed the Government of FBiH and the relevant ministry about the review of the company’s financial position for the period February-December 2023, citing the causes that significantly affect business operations. The Government of FBiH and the relevant ministries were informed about the inevitable negative financial performance of the company during the year.

Despite the above and other reasons that put a burden on the company’s functioning and caused negative financial effects, Elektroprivreda BiH ensured a stable and reliable supply of electricity to its customers without reduction in delivery, settled all legally prescribed obligations and contractual obligations to customers and suppliers,” they stated from this company.
