The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Elmedin Konakovic, met on January 17th, 2026, at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization with the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Sherif Fathy, during an official visit to Egypt.

The talks focused on the existing cooperation and the possibilities for its further development. It was emphasized that relations between BiH and Egypt rest on stable foundations, with significant potential for strengthening through economic projects and more intensive contacts at various levels. Special attention was devoted to tourism, and both sides expressed interest in improving cooperation and creating joint initiatives.

Minister Konakovic highlighted BiH’s readiness to promote concrete projects and encourage closer links between the tourism sectors of the two countries. The Memorandum of Understanding in the field of tourism, signed in Sarajevo in August 2025, together with the launch of the first charter flight on the Cairo-Sarajevo route, opened new opportunities for promoting BiH on the Egyptian market and developing joint projects. It was emphasized that the consistent implementation of already signed memoranda and protocols in the areas of tourism, labor, and employment represents the foundation for future initiatives.

The ministers also discussed cooperation in the field of culture through exhibitions, festivals, and other events, sharing the belief that such projects further strengthen the friendly ties between the two countries.

Minister Fathy emphasized that BiH represents an attractive destination for Egyptian tourists and that there is significant scope for new joint initiatives in the fields of tourism and culture.
