The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, met today with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs, Caleb Orr, as part of his official visit to the United States of America.
During the meeting, the strengthening of economic cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States of America was discussed, with a special focus on energy projects of strategic importance for the region. Minister Konaković emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s goal is a safe, reliable and diversified supply of natural gas. He particularly pointed out that the support of the United States of America in this area is of key importance for long-term stability and security of supply, and that Bosnia and Herzegovina sees the United States of America as a key partner in strengthening regional stability and economic development.
Minister Konaković particularly emphasized the strategic significance of the Southern Gas Interconnection project, which will provide BiH with access to the global LNG market, connection with LNG terminals, reduce our dependence on a single entry route and open the possibility of long-term gas supply from various sources, especially from the United States of America.
Assistant Secretary of State Caleb Orr emphasized the importance of securing access for American companies to the European market, reducing regulatory barriers, and the need for joint work to strengthen the transatlantic economy. He added that such cooperation opens up new opportunities for investment and growth, which is of particular importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the context of its economic development and regional stability.
