The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, met today with members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) Ondřej Kolář, rapporteur for BiH (Czech Republic, EPP), Tineke Strik (Netherlands, Greens/ALE) and António Tânger Corrêa (Portugal, Patriots).
The meeting discussed the current political situation in our country, BiH’s European path, reform processes and regional cooperation.
On that occasion, Konaković informed his interlocutors about the biggest political crisis in our country and the brutal attack by the RS entity leadership on the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He pointed out the danger of illegal actions by Milorad Dodik, President of RS, and other RS officials, undermining state institutions and attempts to escalate the security situation in our country. He recalled Dodik’s trips to Russia and obstruction of our country’s European path.
He stressed the exceptional importance of EU support for peace, stability and security, both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the region. In this context, he also referred to the role and activities of the EUFOR Althea mission. He said that BiH must seize the opportunity and continue with the reform processes on the path to the EU.
