Head of Bosnia and Herzegovina of diplomacy Elmedin Konaković is ending his working visit to the United States of America today, where he officially met with a number of high-ranking US officials, with whom he discussed the situation in our country and Euro-Atlantic integration.
“It is very important that we are there, that we are at these important destinations, that we talk to the people who make decisions, that we tell them the truth about Bosnia and Herzegovina and that they make their joint and all future decisions based on arguments and facts on that basis,” BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković told Fena.
He pointed out that the schedule in the USA was very dynamic, saying that Bosnia and Herzegovina yesterday, the delegation held several meetings at the National Security Council with Senator Christopher Murphy and then with the Vice Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Congresswoman Ann Wagner.
This morning BH the delegation met with Congressman Robert Aderholt, and Senator Jeanne Shaheen.
As Konaković said, these are mostly people who have ties to Bosnia and Herzegovina and who continuously deal with our issues and know the situation well. He emphasized that the messages are encouraging and that America is again focused on Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“I will remind you of the meeting between Annalena Baerbock and Secretary Antony Blinken, where one of the topics was Bosnia and Herzegovina and concerns about the process in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s entity Republika Srpska. All this says that, in fact, we succeeded in a short time to return Bosnia and Herzegovina to the focus of the great world powers, which certainly take care of the stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its future progress,” he asserted.
Minister Konaković added that the arrival of a large number of high-ranking officials from the USA to BiH was announced, saying that at the meetings they opened chapters on possible cooperation in the field of education in which they would like to connect BiH. universities with universities in the USA.
“It is very important to me that we met with Bosnians and Herzegovinans who function, lobby and represent our country through associations. These are people who are firmly attached to their homeland. As they tell us, there are over 300 thousand Bosnians and Herzegovinans here, and we have agreed with them in principle to visit again in the second half of March,” said Konaković.
Speaking about political challenges and the acceleration of BiH road to the European Union, Konaković said that a great effort was made, that important documents were delivered and laws passed that have been waiting for many years.
“Now we are coming to a stage when we still don’t know if that is enough to make that road the fastest possible road or if we have a problem due to the reactions of politicians from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s entity Republika Srpska, and also because of their direct ties with Putin and his regime, because of the fact that because of that BiH gets minuses. However, I think that the general opinion is that Bosnians and Herzegovinians should not be punished all together because of this – Konaković is of the opinion.
He says that even in the USA, the story of individual isolation of politicians who undermine the sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina, attack the Constitution, the Constitutional Court and everything else that is the basis of the existence of Bosnia and Herzegovina dominates.
“We are expecting big decisions from the European Union in October, November, by the end of this year, which need to be confirmed as to whether it is truly for enlargement. If it is, then we expect strong support in two fields. In my opinion, the most important is the integration process in which our companies would open the door to access the common market, make it easier for the BiH economy to develop faster, in which they would open our access to funds and grants. I can freely say that the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina would feel it in their pockets,” the minister asserted.
He believes that this is possible if all politicians in Bosnia and Herzegovina put the interests of the people and citizens first.
“If, for example, they focus on the interests of Russian citizens or some other countries and citizens, of course that path will not be as dynamic as we would like,” concluded BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković, Fena reports.
