Elmedin Konakovic, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), after the journalist investigation into expelled Russian diplomats from European countries, who are now in BiH, said that it was a security issue and that there were omissions in that process.

Konakovic said at the press conference that the arrival of Russian diplomats was a security breach and that the reason for this was specific political circumstances. He added that he had previously sent a letter to Russia not to send “people with that kind of problem” to BiH.

He said that the State Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not let anyone into BiH or legitimize them, but they noticed that it is problematic that people who have been expelled can freely enter our country.

“We notice that people who have been expelled from other countries to BiH can come freely, without any problems, pass through our borders, and the reactions there should be better,” Konakovic said.

A few hours before the press conference, a study was published on Russian diplomats who were expelled by European countries after the invasion of Ukraine, and who were accredited in the Russian mission in BiH in the last year.

Several times during the research work, journalists asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH to comment on the Russian diplomats who were expelled from the European Union (EU) and North Macedonia, but the inquiries and calls were never answered.

After the announcement, journalists were told by the Ministry that Konakovic did not want to interfere in the operational work of the Intelligence and Security Agency (OSA) of BiH, Detektor reports.
