The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, met in Dayton, on the sidelines of the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, with a delegation from the US Congress led by Congressman Michael Turner. The delegation also included Congressmen Linda Sanchez, Brett Guthrie and Joe Wilson.

On that occasion, Minister Konaković welcomed the interest of the US administration in the countries of the Western Balkans, and in particular in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He stressed that the strong support of the US for the accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the countries of the Western Balkans to the European Union is a guarantee of peace and security in the region. He added that our country expects the continuation of the proactive US role in the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as support in the implementation of reforms, which are crucial for the functionality and stability of BiH. He expressed satisfaction with the cooperation between the two countries at the multilateral level.

He informed his interlocutors about the current political situation in our country, and the attacks of the BiH leadership of the RS entity, led by President Milorad Dodik, on the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the fundamental provisions of the Dayton Peace Agreement. He warned that these are activities that threaten peace and stability as well as the progress of BiH on its path to the EU and NATO, the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

The congressmen confirmed the commitment of the United States of America to support the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as its progress on its path to the EU and NATO.
